If you are suffering through a summer without air conditioning you can still cool down. I’ll never forget the time my family took me on a vacation and all of the hotels had no a.c., and no fans. But there are many things you can do to control your home temperature without having to crank up the air conditioning.
Closing the blinds and curtains during the day makes a huge difference. You may even want to consider applying sun reflective film to your windows.
Cool down your home with a ceiling fan.
Eat outside and avoid turning on the stove or oven for dinner. Turn off your lamps and computer when not using them as well as your TV… they all give off heat.
Insulate your home – If it’s done properly in the walls and attic, it will keep heat OUT Of your home in the hot seasons and cool air out in the cold. There are lots of options and there may be government incentives to help offset the costs.
Plant Trees for shade!
Install a whole house fan!
Eat spicy foods! It works in the heat of the desert and it truly cools down your body system.
