Starting with a printed design can become a room’s inspiration and color palette. The key is not to get intimidated by the varied patterns that actually work together in coordinated groupings. It’s about scale, types of pattern, and tying it with some neutral background to make the space look and feel grounded- instead of something that makes you dizzy! And yes with patterns, size matters. As a rule vary the scale of the pattern whether it’s floral or graphic design – smaller on the wall, slightly larger on upholstery. Don’t be afraid to mix up patterns that you wouldn’t expect may work together – as long as the common thread is a color or few colors it may be amazing – florals on one, with stripes on the other but the color is similar or matches. And any pattern and color palette in a room should be repeated at least once so it makes the space look like it has continuity! Listen here for more examples and ideas!
