Home Construction Contracts – The Words You Need

Get it in writing – You’ve heard that before! But what exactly do you need in that contract for your next home improvement project? Cindy’s husband, Been There Bill, a construction and contract veteran, shares the must haves and the words to include to protect you and your dream.

Things like: scope of work, description of materials, start and finish, noise, clean up, theft, damage and payment.   One of the most important things to remember is specifying the contractor will get all licenses, permits and zoning documents to indemnify the homeowner in case the contractor fails to do so. Even then, you may not be in the clear so good idea to cover yourself and get the copies on your own.
